Buying expensive attars

Q: I want to buy attars that cost between R2000 and R4000 a bottle. But I fear it will displease Allah Ta'ala. Or I feel it is not befitting of someone aspiring to be close to Allah Ta'ala. Should I not buy it ?

Giving a diamond ring for mahr

Burying a married woman with a red scarf

Wife requesting separate living quarters

Q: If, in a marriage, a woman lives with her in laws (I have been living with them for a year now) and I have requested to my husband if we could make a decision to move into a place of our own and my husband rejects this - how do I go about with this?

Meaning of the Hadith that the Jews and Christians will be burdened with the sins of the Muslims

Q: In the Qur'an, Allah said that no one will be burdened with the sins of another on the day of judgement but a hadith in Sahih Muslim said that the Jews and Christains will burdened with the sins of the Muslims on the day of judgement.

Abu Burdah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reported the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) as saying: There would come people amongst the Muslims on the day of resurrection with sins heavy as a mountain and Allah would forgive them and he would place in their stead the Jews and Christains. Sahih muslim 2767d Sahih muslim, vol 6 , book of repentance, hadith 6668.

Please clear this contradiction.

Nose surgery to straighten one's nose

Q: A Mufti has recently released a YouTube video which addresses nose surgeries to correct a very obvious bent/crooked nose. I fall in this category and would like to inquire if it would be permissible for me to correct this feature through surgery as it is the source of many of my insecurities.

Giving a deposit when renting out a house

Q: Is it permissible to take a house on rent on a heavy deposit? For example, normally, a house rent is RS 10000/- with RS 30000/- deposit. Is it permissible to rent the same house for RS 5000/- with RS 2,50,000/- deposit?

New Muslim learning about Islam under the guidance of a learned Muslim

Q: I plan to convert to Islam insha-Allah. I would like to know what Sufism in Islam is because the definitions I read on the internet do not make sense to me. I would also like to know because I heard it is bad and I would like to make sure that I stay away from those types of things.

Woman cutting uneven hair to make it the same length

Q: A lady has long hair that she does not cut because it is impermissible. However, over time, her hair has become uneven.

1. Is it permissible to cut the hair so that it looks even (of the same length) from her back when she unties it and puts her hair to her back?
Note that since individual hair strands grow from follicles at different parts of the scalp, making sure the hair looks the same length does not mean that each strand is of the same length. She feels like it is impossible to guarantee that all hair is the same length.

2. She has a lot of split ends and her hair is very dry and unhealthy at the ends. Is it permissible for her to cut the dry part (bottom 3-4 inches) so all of her hair becomes healthy?
